I am so fortunate to have such supportive family and friends! Since I made the decision to start this venture... All I have seen is a tremendous amount of love and support from everyone I have reached out to!
T'anks by's! I loves ya too! (haha... yup, I'm a Newfie! and I'm NOT offended by the term!)
I never thought that in a million years, I would have a BLOG... But... I've decided that perhaps it's a good place to ramble on about things in my head that I want to make someday... that I just want to rant about... or just feel like I have to post SOMEWHERE! I am sometimes afflicted by verbal diarrhea!
I'm just gonna ramble on as the thoughts come to me... whenever they come... don't judge... I'm simply gonna write it as think it... I'm a grammar nerd sometimes... but I really don't care about it ALL the time!
So today's Ramblings are:
I watched a video yesterday of a super simple idea for quilting! Ugh! Makes me wanna haul out my serger and go mad! But alas... I have waaaaaayyyyyy more crochet I want/need to get done before I venture back into the world of quilting! It's been a long time, I hope I can get back to it soon. I have a terrible amount of fabric saved up for specific quilts I want to make for my kids (even denim from their baby jeans!)
I've collected several sewing machines over the years. I kinda love em all! I have one from the 50's, the 70's, and even found a Singer sewing machine that was sold years and years ago for children that is actually full body metal at a garage sale!! Not the plastic junk they sell now! I think it's so/sew cute! I haven't tried to use it yet... but I will someday!
Back to crochet... I've started on making those cute hanging hand towels using 100% cotton yarn. The button closure will of course be a beach rock button!
The thought at the moment is that I'll make a few that are fully crocheted and then crochet a few toppers to attache to some terry cloth towel fabric that I have in my stash.
... hmmm... may get to haul out the sewing machine sooner than I think... meh... or not... I think I'd like to crochet the tops to the towel fabric... they'll still have the beach rock buttons tho!
They're so handy! just hang 'em on the oven door or a drawer handle... or wherever!
I'd also like to make these little hangars that are for hanging a regular dish towel through... but maybe later...
And what about jewellery? I love making things that are pretty out of something so simple as wire! I fell in love with chainmaille a long time ago. Not just for the armor aspect of it, but the fact that there are so many ways to put these simple little rings together and they come out as either being functional for armor... or beautiful for something to adorn the body!
I've made lots of chainmaille jewellery over the years. I got so into it years ago that I decided, when it came to sterling silver and copper, it was more cost effective for me to just order the wire and the mandrels... wind and cut my own rings to weave the chainmaille. It just makes it that much more fun!
Yes, the weaves in chainmaille are tedious and finicky... but I enjoy that kind of thing! I can tune out the world and focus on just wiggling those rings together to make something beautiful! And when I've wound and cut the rings myself, I feel like it was more of an accomplishment to know the amount of care and effort that went into it!
And sometimes I just feel like I need to tune out the world! lol
Bare with me people... My head runs a mile a minute... my thoughts are not always in order... nor are they always cohesive. But that's just me!
For now, I'm just going to finish this post up... I'll prolly be back later... or tomorrow... or whenever...
I may post a little more about me and who I am now in another later on.
Happy thoughts to you all
